Media, PA – District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer today announced the Delaware County District Attorney’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is the first DA’s Criminal Investigation Unit in Pennsylvania to have earned accreditation by the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association’s Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEACP). The PLEACP accreditation program is designed to evaluate and improve law enforcement agencies by the adherence to a thorough set of professional standards. To achieve accreditation, an agency must complete a self-assessment, comply with standards, and be verified by independent professionals. The program helps agencies improve performance, develop better community services, and potentially reduce liability risks.

“PLEACP Accreditation is the gold standard for law enforcement agencies in Pennsylvania.” said CID Chief James Nolan. “We are a unique law enforcement agency; a detective bureau with specially trained investigators in law enforcement disciplines including command of Pennsylvania’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, which currently consists of 147 law enforcement agencies across the Commonwealth. My team is incredibly proud of achieving accreditation.” Nolan continued.

“Since we took office six years ago, the District Attorney, Chief Nolan, and I have prioritized making our agency work better and smarter,” said First Assistant Tanner Rouse. “We have created partnerships with the community, which has led to a 74% reduction in gun homicides in the City of Chester, revamped our Narcotics Task Force to go after major drug dealers, created a Child Abuse Task Force to better protect our children, all while creating diversionary programs to give low level offenders the help they need and reducing our prison population by 40%. Achieving PLEACP accreditation is another major accomplishment and a real credit to Chief Nolan, Detective Edward Silberstein, and the CID leadership team.” Rouse continued.

“In 2020, after the death of George Floyd, Nether Providence Chief of Police David Splain and I convened a Criminal Justice Reform Task Force to bring together the community and police to see how we can continue to improve our work as a law enforcement community across Delaware County,” said District Attorney Stollsteimer. “We set a goal through that task force process to achieve PLEACP accreditation for every law enforcement agency operating in Delco. That’s why I am so proud that my CID has become the first DA’s investigation unit in our Commonwealth to achieve PLEACP accreditation. We are now one of 194 law enforcement agencies across Pennsylvania, and 14 here in Delco, that are the best of the best.” Stollsteimer continued.
