Media, PA – District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer announced the arrest today of Erven Eric Towers-Rolon, 29, of Chester, PA, in connection with the November 2021 armed robbery that occurred in front of the Dollar Tree on the Avenue of the States in Chester. In connection with the arrest, a substantial quantity of marijuana was also located, and the defendant is also facing drug charges. The arrest was the work of the Delaware County Drug Task Force and the Chester Police Department Narcotics and Investigations Division. The defendant has been charged with armed robbery, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, and felony firearms charges.
“This defendant brazenly robbed an individual at gunpoint, and then used the stolen credit cards to charge thousands of dollars in unauthorized transactions. He did this despite the fact that at the time he was on Federal parole. Significantly, due to his past criminal record, he was not legally permitted to possess a firearm. The defendant presented a clear threat to public safety, and the detectives and officers involved in his apprehension are to be commended for getting this dangerous individual off of our streets before he did something even more serious,” said District Attorney Stollsteimer.
On the evening of November 8, 2021, officers from the Chester Police Department were dispatched to the Dollar Tree located in the 1100 Block of the Avenue of the States in the City of Chester. The victim reported that a black male had pressed a gun into the victim’s side and had demanded a black pouch containing cash, credit cards, and other personal documents. The defendant then fled the scene and ran eastbound. After the robbery, thousands of dollars in unauthorized transactions were made on the victim’s credit cards, including at stores located in the vicinity of the robbery. The victim was able to positively identify the defendant when presented with a photo array.
On Wednesday, December 8, City of Chester Police Detectives and members of the Delaware County Drug Task Force served a search and arrest warrant at a location in Chester. The defendant advised the officers that he had placed a bag containing marijuana under the bed. Investigation revealed over a pound of marijuana, together with a scale commonly used for weighing narcotics, together with bags used for packaging narcotics.
“I want to commend the members of the Delaware County Drug Task Force, led by Criminal Investigation Division Sergeant Anthony Ruggeri and Deputy District Attorney Laurie Moore. I would also like to specifically commend the hard work of Detective Ryan Stewart of the City of Chester Police Department for his contributions to today’s arrest,” said DA Stollsteimer.
The defendant was arraigned and bail was set at $750,000 (10%) on the robbery charges and $50,000 (10%) on the drug charges. He will have a preliminary hearing on the drug charges on December 20, 2021 before District Judge Wilden Davis and a preliminary hearing on the robbery charges on December 21, 2021 before District Judge Dawn Vann.
