Media, PA- Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer today announced that Nicholas Stevenson, 43, of Wallingford, has been charged with multiple counts of possession of child pornography, as well as three counts of the sexual abuse of children through the manufacture of child pornography, invasion of privacy, and the criminal use of a communication facility. In an unrelated case, Daniel Wagaman, 36, of Haverford, has been charged with 50 counts of possession of child pornography and 50 counts of criminal use of a communication facility.
“Plain and simple, the possession of child pornography is a form of child abuse. It is not a victimless crime – child pornography is form of child exploitation, and we must prosecute it to the full extent of the law,” said DA Stollsteimer. He continued, “Delaware County is fortunate to have the skill and resources of the Pennsylvania Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (the “ICAC”), led by Pennsylvania Task Force Commander Detective Sergeant Ken Bellis, located in our Criminal Investigation Division. We — quite literally – have the state’s best experts working to address the cases involving child pornography in Delaware County. This is extraordinarily difficult work, and I know I speak for all County residents when I express my appreciation to the members of the Task Force, particularly Detective Sergeant Bellis.”
The ICAC is comprised of a cooperative group of law enforcement agencies on the international, federal, regional, state, and local levels. The ICAC was developed in response to the increasing number of children and teenagers using the internet, the proliferation of child pornography, and the heightened online activity by predators searching for unsupervised contact with underage victims. The Office of the District Attorney works closely with the ICAC Task Force to aggressively prosecute internet offenders, protect potential victims, and educate parents, teachers and children about internet safety.
The case against Stevenson originated with a report from Google to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an account identified by the username “Nicholas Stevenson” uploaded files containing child pornography. Detective Lisa DeMartini, of the Criminal Investigation Division, viewed the files and confirmed the presence of child pornography. A search warrant was authorized for the defendant’s Wallingford residence. Various electronic devices were seized as a result of the search warrant. The defendant was charged at that time with the possession of child pornography. In December 2020, detectives received a response from Google regarding the defendant’s account. Located in the account were numerous images of females, edited and altered to appear naked. The images may have been taken from the social media pages of the victims, and some of the pictures depict children with genitals superimposed onto the picture. As a result, additional charges were brought against Stevenson on March 2, 2021, for the manufacture of child pornography.
The case against Wagaman originated with a report from Dropbox to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The report was reviewed by Detective Martini and was found to contain multiple images of child pornography. A search warrant was authorized for the defendant’s Haverford residence, as well as his Dropbox account. A review of the defendant’s Dropbox account found over 300 images and video files containing child pornography.
Stevenson was arraigned by Judge Andrew Goldberg. Bail was set at $250,000 (10%). His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 22, 2021 in front of Judge Deborah Krull.
Wagaman was arraigned by Judge Robert Burke. Bail was set at $250,000 (25%). His preliminary hearing had been scheduled for March 18, 2021, in front of Judge Lacianca, but has been continued.
The District Attorney and the Criminal Investigations Division remind anyone in Delaware County who observes suspicious activity call to 911 immediately and provide the most specific and accurate details possible to assist law enforcement agencies investigating the call for service.
